1 Day Top Rope / Lead Climbing on Moody beach and Kayaking

Program Overview:

This full-day experience is ideal for climbers of all levels who want to combine rock climbing with kayaking in the breathtaking Lan Ha Bay. From scaling vertical limestone walls to gliding across emerald waters, this tour delivers both thrill and serenity.

Climbing at Moody Beach:

• After being picked up from your accommodation and equipped at the climbing office, you’ll board a boat heading to the stunning Moody Beach — a climber’s paradise nestled in Lan Ha Bay.

• Professional guides will set up ropes and assist you throughout your climb.

• Learn basic safety procedures including tying figure 8 knots, using gear correctly, and communicating on the wall.

• Challenge yourself on a variety of routes graded from 4c to 6b+, with breathtaking views as your reward.

Highlighted Routes:

• MAO DE (5a, 21m) – Diagonal climb with a chimney finish.

• BAREFOOT VIETNAMESE (6b+, 15m) – Most challenging, with overhanging moves.

• KHONG CO GI (4c, 14m) – Boulder start leading into a chimney.

• HONEYMOONER’S DELIGHT (5a, 11m) – Gentle arete and pocketed wall.

• ROUTINE HEAVEN (6a, 20m) – A tricky section followed by fun climbing.

• DO IT FOR BILLY JOEL (5a, 20m) – Chimney climb following the natural line.

You’ll have time to relax on the beach and enjoy a refreshing swim after climbing.

Lunch & Kayaking Exploration:

• Enjoy a Vietnamese lunch at a floating house in the bay.

• After lunch, head out for a kayaking session through some of Lan Ha Bay’s most captivating areas — including Bright & Dark Cave or Tai Keo Cave.

• Paddle past towering limestone formations, hidden lagoons, and secluded beaches.

• On the return journey, cruise through Cai Beo Fishing Village, one of Vietnam's oldest floating communities, and admire iconic rock formations such as Turtle Islet, Pen Islet, Sail Islet, and Cup Islet.

1 Day Top Rope / Lead Climbing on Moody beach and Kayaking

(7:00am-5:30pm)

7:00 am : Pick-up from your hotel in Cat Ba Town to the office.

7:30 am : at the office, try on shoes and pick up equipment.

8:00am - 12:30pm The car will pick you up at the office to go to Beo wharf, then get on the boat to go to the climbing point. It takes 30 minutes to get to the climbing point where you will find climbs ranging from 4+ to 6b+. Then, our professional guides will set up the top rope and support you while you're climbing.

Start climbing while the guides belay and instruct you from below. 

• Based on each one’s climbing experience and strength, the guides will recommend you the routes you should try. There is no time limit in climbing – this is the first step to introduce you to climbing technique, challenge and defeat your own fear. Our guides will be your coaches and supporters to help you complete the climbing routes. During the trip, the guides will give you a course about tying the figure 8-knots, communicating in technical terms, and you’ll learn the names of different movements on the wall. A quick introduction about the climbing devices will help you understand the importance of safety in climbing.
• The reward for every climb is the wonderful view of Lan Ha Bay from the top of the route. The guides will lower you down, then you can relax on the beach or swimming in the refreshing water.
• Our rock climbing trip will take place on Moody Beach, Lan Ha Bay. This beach is a great crag for beginning and intermediate climbers, with 6 routes graded from 4c to 6b. Aside from one overhanging climb, routes are all vertical. Rock quality is very good, with numerous good holds and ledges to rest.

• MAO DE – 5a, 21m, 10 bolts. Start from a stone a few meters right of the line. Climb diagonally up and leftward to an exposed step and small chimney finish.
• BAREFOOT VIETNAMESE – 6b+, 15m, 10 bolts. The most challenging route in the crag, with nice overhang movements.
• KHONG CO GI – 4c, 14m, 6 bolts. Climb up the big boulder and follow the chimney to the top. The upper section can be a bit tricky.
• HONEYMOONER’S DELIGHT – 5a, 11m, 6 bolts. Climb the arete to the top of the pillar. Traverse up and left through  a series of pockets to the top.
• ROUTINE HEAVEN – 6a, 20m, 9 bolts. Two meters of tricky climbing at the second bolt make the grade. The rest is pure fun.
• DO IT FOR BILLY JOEL – 5a, 20m, 8 bolts. Follow the line of least resistance up the big chimney.                                                                                               

12:30pm: The boat will take you and the tour guide to the floating house, then have lunch on the floating house.

• After lunch, we will kayak. The boat moves to the Bright - Dark Cave area or Tai Keo Cave for tourists to participate in kayaking activities - the most interesting and unique activity on Lan Ha Bay. You are free to explore the magical beauty of Lan Ha Bay, which is honored as one of the most beautiful bays on the planet. Explore caves and see limestone mountains with many interesting shapes.
• Then, on the way back, we will pass through (without stopping) the ancient fishing village of Cai Beo with a history of thousands of years, where local fishermen live, located next to the rocky mountains. During the journey, you have the opportunity to see the wonders formed millions of years ago such as Hon Rua, Hon But, Hon Buom, Hon Coc.

5:30pm: Return to Cat Ba.

Includes: Boat, experienced climbing guide, kayaking, lunch, taxi to and from Ben Beo harbour, entrance fees, 2 drink, all equipment, climbing shoes, chalk, fruit during the trip, dry bag.
